The challenge for this project was to redesign the front cover of an existing book, utilizing both analog and digital techniques to produce a final result. For this endeavor, Chinua Achebe’s "Things Fall Apart," one of the most significant African novels, renowned for its translations into over 50 languages, was chosen.
The design aims to use typography to enhance the book's meaning, striving for a simple yet powerful effect. The torn paper and chosen colors create tension, not only emphasizing the book's title but also conveying the novel's poignant theme of the clash between traditional African culture and the disruptive influence of Western civilization.
